Today I finished reading The Hound of Baskervilles, and found this particular quote from Dr. Watson really interesting:
I am certainly developing the wisdom of the serpent, for when Mortimer pressed his questions to an inconvenient extent I asked him casually to what type Franklin's skull belonged, and so heard nothing but craniology for the rest of our drive. I have not lived for years with Sherlock Holmes of nothing.
This is interesting because this is the technique, I have employed myself several times, and yet never saw it written anywhere. And another reason why it’s interesting to me is because the last sentence I have said to myself couple of times, although never in the similar context. ☺
